Impossible Cities
"All the cities in the world are but figments of someone’s imagination, their foundations only as strong as the people’s desire to continue living in them. Left to their own, they crumble to dust and rubble. I have seen cities beyond imagination, built by people of great fortitude and determination, but also by men of weak wills and foresight. There is no ideal city, only moments of synchronicity, when all the forces that shape a city are aligned for greatness; and without exception, these moments are always fleeting. Though they may last a thousand years, cities are no more permanent than any brick in its walls. From the moment of inception, the seed of its self-destruction is ready to be nurtured, either from within or without. It cannot be destroyed, because it is what brings greatness, or infamy.”
--From the Journals of Syd Arthur
Syd Arthur is an almost mythological character in the Alphazett multiverse. "The Fastest Librarian in the World" was coined after he first proved his genius by inventing a whole new paradigm in information science that led directly to the creation of the Central Navigator. What is the Central Navigator? You'll have to visit Alphazett to find out. Not now though, it probably isn't there yet.
These paintings were envisioned as the works of a hobbyist painter, Syd, that also happens to be traveling the multiverse looking for a way out.
