An elevator to the stars, perhaps not, but 20,000 miles above the surface of the earth makes for a hell of a view regardless. With zero background in space elevator technology, other than a Fountains of Paradise high-school book report (B-), I've somehow managed to work on multiple related projects-- first a science documentary, followed by a skydiving simulator, and then an adventure RPG.
