Dent Meets Agents at the OK Forum
The "inter-universal cafe" for a thousand Earth instances is the setting for a chapter in Strung Out in Demiurge, one of the Alphazett Chronicles stories in development. The building concept was an architecture competition entry from decades ago that I reinvented a few years back as a feature location to fit somewhere in an Alphazett narrative.
The character of Thelonius (Ted) Dent, featured on the cover, is a grizzled Agent of Retrieval, member of the Agency, the central glue of the Alphazett Multiverse that literally keeps the whole shebang up and running.
Originally, these two concepts, the building and the character were entirely unrelated. Realizing the building was the original goal, but by tying it into the larger story, I suddenly have the story to shape the building narrative.

Without actual elevation drawings there was a lot of trial and error before the basic form emerged. This was the the easy part, though.
To "construct" the building, I knew it was going to be a long slow road, but I had to start somewhere.
Building on the previous work, I went back to the original drawing and told it specifically: "This is the cross-section of the building perpendicular to ground and midway through building. Build this."
This might take a while.
